XLI Corporation
Purchases New Toyoda FA400 for Enhanced Capabilities
(Rochester, New York) XLI
Corporation today announced the purchase of a new Toyoda
FA400 Horizontal Machining Center. The FA400 is the
company's first horizontal machining center. XLI
Corporation currently owns six vertical machining
centers.
"A horizontal machine is the next
logical step in the development of our machining
business," said Peter Schott, President of XLI. "Our
customers require Just-In-Time production for their
products. We need to eliminate non-value added
activities such as machine set-ups. Our plan is to
automate our machining services with robotic pallets,
common tooling, integrated job scheduling, and multiple
spindles. The FA400 is a natural extension of our
current capability and a steppingstone to a more
sophisticated flexible manufacturing system that will
meet the needs of our customers."
"We chose the Toyoda for its compact
size, high speed, value, expandability, and reputation
for reliability," Schott continued. "The dual pallet
FA400 enhances our machining capabilities and allows us
to consider novel approaches to programming, tooling,
and work holding that are not possible on our vertical
machines."
