XLI Corporation
Announces Major Process and
Product Development Initiative
(Rochester, New York) XLI
Corporation, a full-service manufacturer of precision
components for Fortune 500 clients, announced today a
$147,000 initiative to enhance its process and product
offerings. A portion of the initiative will be used to
help develop proprietary products in new markets. The
addition of these products will strengthen XLI by
leveling production loads, improving resource
utilization and expanding the company’s engineering
capabilities.
“We recognize that fast-changing markets put increasing
pressures on our clients to upgrade products and reduce
costs,” said XLI Corporation President Peter Schott. “In
order to support these customers, we must continually
improve our operations. Accordingly, XLI will use a
major portion of this initiative to expand our sales
force, upgrade client information systems, improve
project management processes and enhance the skills of
our manufacturing personnel.”
This initiative is supported, in part, by a $40,000
Industrial Effectiveness Program grant from Empire State
Development, New York State’s economic development
agency.
“New York State’s Industrial Effectiveness Program helps
companies improve production processes to enhance
efficiency, expand market share and promote job growth,”
said Empire State Development Chairman Charles A.
Gargano. “When coupled with Governor Pataki’s business
friendly policies, programs such as this have enabled us
to create an environment in New York State where
companies can invest in their futures and thrive, which
strengthens our economy and benefits our workforce.”
“In the global market for manufacturing services, speed
is a competitive advantage,” Schott said. “We are
extremely grateful to Governor Pataki’s team at Empire
State Development for assisting us with this initiative,
which will ensure that XLI becomes more responsive,
leaner and provides even greater customer-focus. The
essence of this strategy is captured in our value
proposition, ‘Manufacturing complex products faster.’”
The company’s core capabilities are process design and
engineering, computer numerically controlled (CNC)
machining, CNC turning, sheet metal fabrication and
product assembly and testing. A typical product for the
company is an assembly consisting of machined, turned
and sheet metal parts produced internally integrated
with purchased components such as motors, wire
harnesses, belts, pulleys, etc. procured externally via
qualified subcontractors.
XLI Corporation is an ISO 9001:2000 registered,
full-service manufacturer of precision engineered
machine components and assemblies. For more than three
decades, XLI has provided precision manufacturing
services for the nation’s leading suppliers of equipment
for circuit board insertion, digital imaging and
printing, manufacturing automation, medical diagnostics,
office automation, process control, and
telecommunications.
The company, which operates a modern, 32,000 S. F.
facility in Rochester, N.Y., has recently expanded its
capabilities for prismatic machining, rotational
machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly and test
services, and design services to better assist customers
that are trying to compete in today’s global economy.
