Turning Capabilities
XLI Corporation offers both conventional and Computer
Numerically Controlled (CNC) turning capabilities for
precision manufacturing of rotational components.
CNC Turning
High speed CNC control of all operations often allows
components to be made completely in a single pass for
maximum productivity. The CNC controls also make it
economically possible to run quantities of parts more
frequently for Just-In-Time (JIT), short run, or lean
manufacturing based production. When off-line secondary
operations are required, XLI has the equipment and personnel
needed to provide you with completely finished components.
CNC Swiss Type Turning
With CNC Swiss type turning, stock is fed through a high
precision rotating guide bushing only slightly larger than
the material itself. This allows processing of ground stock
without damage to the outside surface. Cutting is done
directly at the guide bushing allowing for single pass
profile generation and improved stability and accuracy
during machining. The through feed capability also enables
manufacturing of long, high tolerance, components.
For faster production at lower cost, our Swiss type turning
machines are equipped with: •
Automatic hydraulic bar feeders
•
Indexing spindles
•
Live cross working tools for
milling,
drilling, and tapping
•
Subspindles for simultaneous
operations

Production Automation
Our CNC Lathes are equipped with automatic bar feeders,
through spindle coolant, live tooling, and robotic
load/unload systems for 24 hour operation. These systems
make it possible to machine larger diameter parts that are
unsuitable for CNC Swiss type turning and to provide
specialized services such as deep hole drilling.
Material Selection
XLI Corporation has extensive experience with both CNC Swiss
type and conventional turning in many types of materials
including:
•
Aluminum
•
Brass
•
Plastics
•
Steel
•
Stainless Steel
On-Site Tooling
XLI has the personnel and equipment needed to design, build,
and maintain specialized form tools for rotational
machining. This helps us to reduce lead times, improve
quality, and reduce costs for your components.
Finishing Operations
XLI also provides deburring, tumbling, bead blasting,
cleaning, and other types of finishing operations needed to make
rotational components ready for
assembly.
Whether you need prototypes, pilot runs, Just-In-Time (JIT)
production, Kanban programs, or lean manufacturing based support, choose XLI as your
source for precision rotational machining services.
